Ardleigh Hall Leisure’s resident Head Coach is Lee Drew a former touring professional. Lee reached number 12 in England and was ranked within the top 45 in the world claiming the scalps of numerous world top 20 players and winning a number of professional events around the globe.
Lee was also Essex county champion in 2006 (the season he retired from the circuit). Since becoming a coach Lee has received the support and plaudits of some of the worlds leading coaches, including Malcolm Willstrop and Jonah Barrington.
Lee strives to help his pupils improve and achieve excellence whilst enjoying everything the game of squash has to offer. It is no surprise that his mission statement is to attain excellence whilst having fun.
The underlying foundation/principles of Lee’s coaching are all based on his own personal playing experience’s whilst working and training under some of the best coaches the squash world has had to offer.
Lee particularly singles out Malcolm Willstrop (with his unprecedented conveyor belt of players that emerge out of Pontefract Squash Club) as his main influence. Lee commented “Malcolm not only helped to finish my career on a high, playing the best squash of my life but he also taught me to enjoy and feel passionate about the game of squash; at a time when I had fallen out of love with it”. He continues “I now feel that it is my personal duty and goal to pass on those exact same sentiments to my students”.
Adult Group Sessions
The Ardleigh Hall squash programme also features a number of group sessions aimed solely at our adult members. Ladies partake in improver group sessions on Monday and Friday mornings 09:45-11:00 hrs; anyone from a beginner to an advanced player is welcome to either of these sessions. There are two more Ladies group sessions on a Tuesday morning 09:45-11:00 hrs and a Thursday evening 19:30-20:30 hrs; these groups are primarily aimed at improver/team players. There is also a Men’s group session aimed at improvers that takes place on a Wednesday evening at 19:30-20:30.
In order to keep progressing and advancing Ardleigh Hall’s squash programme the club has formed a close working relationship with England Squash (the sports domestic governing body); this relationship allows us to keep up to date with anything new that arrives within the game of squash.
We hope you enjoy the unique experience that is Squash at Ardleigh Hall Leisure!
